Sr. Level Marketing Management and Consulting in Gaming
My most recent marketing success was at Greyhound Lines, Inc. as VP of Marketing, Advertising and PR . My responsibilities were not just in marketing passenger transportation. They also included a variety of programs and campaigns in travel, leisure, recreation, sports, entertainment and in gaming.
By far our most successful new product at Greyhound was our casino service called Lucky Streak. It served Atlantic City , Reno , and other gaming destinations like Foxwoods. Working with Allan Doerr at Bally's and with senior marketing managers of other casinos, and with Marshall Murdaugh, the president of the Atlantic City CVB, we took a leadership role in designing, new, direct service and promotions to all the major casinos. We also introduced new branding, advertising, sales promotions, and public relations programs that increased gaming revenues for the entire city. This included joining Greyhounds frequent rider programs with casino frequent players programs, and developing major entertainment junkets. Atlantic City revenues alone increased over 300% in the first three years of service and have grown steadily ever since. It was these programs and campaigns that contributed most to us receiving major, national awards and citations from both The Travel Industry Association of America (TIA) and from the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association (HSMAI).
My responsibilities as VP of Marketing, Advertising and PR for the bowling industry included repositioning bowling from a tired, league sport, to a contemporary, recreation and leisure activity. Equally important, my department took a leadership role in funding and building the new bowling stadium in Reno . We also found sponsors for national, televised tournaments held there. The stadium and its tournaments are credited with increasing gaming revenues to Reno over 1000% in the last ten years.
In addition, I owned a consulting firm named Marketing Support Services, Inc. that served 300 national corporate clients. In the early 80s, consulting for ATARI, my staff and I wrote the product development strategy and introductory promotion plans that successfully targeted, positioned and introduced their first three lines of ATARI (Bally)--Electronic Gaming Machines as well as their video games and computer games including Pac Man.
